    Description

    Cabinet card photograph of a teacher and her students, by Schofield Bros. of Wakefield, Rhode Island, circa 1880s. The unidentified view shows a young woman sitting at the center of a group of seven boys and a girl. I suspect this is a teacher and her students, back in the days of the one room school house. The young woman is seated at center and doesn’t look to be much more than eighteen years old. The girl to her right is probably just a couple of years younger than her, like the two tallest boys behind the teacher. The two or three youngest boys might be twelve or thirteen years old. The teacher likely had charge of a small school in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, close by the village of Wakefield. The cabinet card is in good condition with light wear and soiling. Note the rubbing at the corners of the warped card. The photograph exhibits good or better tonal range and shows good or better detail. A nice early New England education related image!
